Equality
The university considers equality to be one of its key socio-political responsibilities and actively promotes an inclusive university culture that offers equal opportunities. Equality is based on an analysis of current inequalities and barriers and includes career development opportunities, awareness-raising initiatives and gender mainstreaming within the organisation. The aim is to be as non-discriminatory as possible for all members of the university – students and staff alike.

Gender Monitoring
Gender monitoring helps to make structural inequalities visible and constitutes a central pillar of equality measures at the University of Vienna. Wherever possible, diversity categories are taken into account, developments are continuously monitored, and priorities for future action are identified.
In its Affirmative Action Plan for the Advancement of Women and Gender Equality, the University of Vienna commits itself to regularly collecting and publishing data on gender relations. The results are available online and are updated annually.
All employees of the University of Vienna have the opportunity to view the income data sheet for their respective salary group for the previous year.

Women* in Science Day
Gender inequalities continue to shape academic careers to this day, particularly in STEM fields. In addition to measures such as gender monitoring, career development, and work–life balance, the University of Vienna therefore also places a strong emphasis on targeted visibility.
Women in Science @ Uni Vienna, held in connection with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), highlights women researchers and equality initiatives and complements gender equality efforts with a strong public-facing perspective.
